Movie News
Have you wondered how many mistakes were made in Twilight? I haven't either, but some other poor sap has, and he even counted them (I am not 100% it is a man, but no woman I know would worry about that, so it has to be a man.............right?) Find out how many mistakes Twilight made and what other top movies made the list. I guess I better go and see the movie again, I didn't notice that many mistakes.
New Moon has made the list for the Top 30 movies to see in 2009. Number 14 isn't bad at all. Click here to see what the top movies are.

Check out this picture of Rob. I think he looks good with shorter hair. I mean it is no Edward, but it will grow back............right? I think he looks a little like Justin Timberlake.
Michael Copon Comments: Why he could be Jacob Black
JUSTJAREDJR.COM - Michael Copon: I’ve Got 60 Pounds on Taylor Lautner.
Looks like Michael Copon and Taylor Lautner will be duking it out for the role of Jacob Black! Michael, 26, just spoke with J-14 to talk about nabbing himself the perfect part in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to Twilight.
On what he’s been doing to prepare: I feel like I need to bulk down. Right now I’m close to 200 pounds of muscle. Taylor’s [Lautner] probably what, 140, if he’s lucky? I’m already 200 pounds, so there’s no need for me to get any bigger. Plus he’s 5′6″ and I’m 6′2″. In the book, he grows eight inches and I’m exactly eight inches taller than Taylor. Huge difference.
On why he should get the role of Jacob Black: I have nothing against Taylor personally. I think he’s great and tremendous at what he does. But it’s just adjusting to the fact that Jacob has to grow. It’s a matter of going with the storyline. It goes with the territory. I see so much in Jacob Black that I feel like wasn’t brought to the first film that if I had the opportunity, I would totally create an amazing character.
On the books: I’ve read the first one and I’ve dabbled through the Cliffs Notes of the second and third ones. I haven’t had time to actually sit down and read the whole book, but I kind of know what happens.
Movie Sales as of 12/21/08
Total US Gross $158,460,899
International Gross $50,200,000
Worldwide Gross $208,660,899
James Bond has made $161,300,000 in US sales. Twilight is less than $3,000,000 million dollars behind. Wahoo!! For the movie to be out 4 weeks and make over $200 million dollars I think is really cool. I just cannot wait until the DVD and even more, New Moon.

Who will be the new Jacob Black?
MTV has confirmed with Summit that there are other actors vying for the role of Jacob Black and pitching their resume to be considered for everyone’s favorite Volturi Aro. There’s also coverage on Rob and Kristen and those oh so romantic scenes.
Variety is confirming that Summit will release New Moon on November 20, 2009. Is it too early to start the count down? Channy and I will not rent out the theatre just yet.....

News from Stephenie
Hey guys,
There's been a lot of worry and speculation on the boards lately, and I want to let you know what's going on.
First of all, like you, I'm sad that Catherine is not continuing on with us for New Moon. I'm going to miss her, not just as a brilliant director, but also as a friend. She has such a distinct, authentic voice that did amazing things for Twilight. I'm looking forward to every movie she does in the future.
And she didn't leave us empty handed. We still get the benefits of her amazing casting and the beautiful visual world she created. This foundation puts us in a good place for New Moon.
Summit Films is moving forward with a new director for New Moon. They've asked Chris Weitz, director of American Pie, About a Boy, and The Golden Compass, to join us, and I am very pleased to announce that he's agreed to be a part of our Twilight world. I've had the chance to talk to Chris, and I can tell you that he is excited by the story and eager to keep the movie as close to the book as possible. He is also very aware of you, the fans, and wants to keep you all extremely happy. (Torches and pitchforks are not going to be necessary.)
I'm excited to work with Chris and I think he brings a lot to the table, not the least of which for me is that he wrote the screenplay for and directed one of my favorite movies of all time, About a Boy. I'm really looking forward to seeing his vision for New Moon.
There is a letter from Christ on Stephenie's website. Click here to read it.
Not too bad. Hopefully he keeps true to his letter.

CHRIS WEITZ OFFICIAL NEW MOON DIRECTOR!
This just in from Entertainment Weekly, although we have no official confirmation from Summit, EW doesn’t stick their necks out like this unless they have something truly viable.
Sources tell Entertainment Weekly that Summit Entertainment is about to hire Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) as the shepherd for New Moon, the second installment of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling Twilight series.
Weitz is best-known for his work with his brother Paul. The two directed and produced American Pie and then were nominated for an Academy Award for best screenplay for About a Boy, which they also co-directed. Chris’ first solo directing gig, The Golden Compass, didn’t do well stateside but was a hit internationally.
Twilight, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, has grossed more than $141 million so far, but Hardwicke had clashed with the studio during production. It was announced early this week that she would not be making New Moon. Weitz has a solid relationship with Summit’s top brass; he’s considered easy to work with and has experience with special effects. "He’s the quality-of-life-choice," says one source. While Summit insists "we have not yet signed Chris Weitz to do New Moon," and Weitz’s agency says no deal has been signed, other sources say the deal is imminent, and that Summit has stopped negotiations with other potential Moon directors. Summit had planned to announce this hiring decision on Sunday, Dec. 14, and could have Weitz in Vancouver, B.C. as early as Monday to start pre-production on the film.
Now that the Director has been chosen, let the casting begin. Check out this article from EW.

NEW MOON MOVIE DETAILS
Entertainment Weekly - New details on New Moon and the possibility that Taylor won’t be back as Jacob. Read about it below:
Summit Entertainment has tentatively slated Nov. 20, 2009, as the release date for New Moon, the Twilight sequel, which means any director who signs on to replace Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has to be in Vancouver by Dec. 15 to begin 12 weeks of preproduction before a mid-March start date. Reports have speculated that Hardwicke was fired for being difficult on set, but sources close to her suggest Summit’s aggressive production schedule turned her off. “She’d love to do the sequel if she could do it better than Twilight,” says one. “It became clear that Summit didn’t have those same priorities.”
Indeed, at press time the second movie appeared to have little more than a rough first-draft working script. As Summit’s production president Erik Feig told EW during Twilight’s record-busting first weekend, “There is that first…script. All the finesse that turns a screenplay into a movie hasn’t happened yet.” Two weeks later, Summit is saying it’s happy with screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg’s progress.
Another of Hardwicke’s primary concerns was that hunky vampire Edward remains MIA throughout New Moon’s middle portion. In her own opening-weekend interview, she told EW, “You have to get the chemistry as strong between Jacob and Bella as it was between Bella and Edward. You also have to do something with that arc: She’s in love with somebody, he disappears, she falls in love with someone else, and the first guy comes back. Movies like Pearl Harbor have tried it. It absolutely didn’t work.”
With or without Hardwicke, Summit faces other snags. Two sources tell EW the studio doesn’t want to rehire baby-faced Taylor Lautner (pictured) as Jacob, though Lautner’s agent has apparently reached out to the imaging company behind The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in an attempt to demonstrate to Summit how a digitally bulked-up Lautner could work. (Summit says it won’t make a decision until a new filmmaker is on board.) There’s also the matter of finding a cast of Native American actors to play Jacob’s werewolf clan — a difficult challenge Hardwicke was also faced with before settling on Lautner, who isn’t completely Native American. And with a slightly increased budget of $50 million — much of which is assumed will go to leads asking for heftier paydays, location shoots in Italy, and ramped-up F/X — Summit will have to scrimp somewhere.
POTIENTIAL NEW MOON DIRECTOR
Two sources (Perez Hilton and Nikke Finke) are claiming Chris Weitz has been offered the position of directing New Moon. At this point, it’s not confirmed by Summit.
From Perez:
The makers of Twilight, Summit Entertainment, has reportedly offered the sequel director job to Chris Weitz. In addition to directing About a Boy, Weitz was also one of the producers of American Pie.
Hollywood insiders say Weitz scored the big job because he’s super good friends with Summit’s president of production, Eric Feig.
It’s nice to have friends in high places!
Summit also reportedly liked the job he did directing The Golden Compass, that Nicole Kidman film no one saw.
From Nikki Finke:
Yes, he’s had tremendous success working with tweens and teens (About A Boy as director and writer, American Pie as producer and uncredited director). But Chris Weitz also did The Golden Compass (as writer and director), and my source says Summit Entertainment liked the look of that even if it didn’t heat up the domestic box office (but did better overseas). I don’t have official confirmation yet that this Twilight sequel offer has gone out to Weitz. But my insider says another reason it came down is because Weitz and Summit’s president of production Eric Feig are longtime pals. The source tells me Weitz is “still considering” the offer to helm New Moon and possibly also Eclipse if the sequel and threequel movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s series of vampire books are made back-to-back. This info follows my news that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is off the film franchise.
Late Breaking Article from EW confirming what had been rumored by various sources earlier, that an offer has gone out to Chris Weitz of The Golden Compass and Oscar Nominee for About a Boy fame. There is no info on whether that offer has been accepted. Also under discussion is how Taylor Lautner can fit in given the state of graphic technology seen in such movies like Benjamin Button where Brad Pitt ages and then youthens before our eyes.

SUMMIT BEGINS SEARCH FOR NEW MOON DIRECTOR
Summit Entertainment and director Catherine Hardwicke jointly announced today that the filmmaker will not be directing the next installment in the newly minted TWILIGHT film franchise. Summit’s targeted end of 2009 or early 2010 release of the film, NEW MOON, does not work with Ms. Hardwicke’s required prep time to bring her vision of the film to the big screen. Thus as has been done before with many successful film franchises, the studio will employ a new director for NEW MOON.
"I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct NEW MOON,” said Hardwicke. “Directing TWILIGHT has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit the best with the sequel– it is a great story."
“Catherine did an incredible job in helping us to launch the TWILIGHT franchise and we thank her for all of her efforts and we very much hope to work with her on future Summit projects,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production. “We as a studio have a mandate to bring the next installment in the franchise to the big screen in a timely fashion so that fans can get more of Edward, Bella and all of the characters that Stephenie Meyer has created. We are able to pursue an aggressive time frame as we have the luxury of only adapting the novels into screenplays as opposed to having to create a storyline from scratch.”
The Normal Mormon Husbands are back. This time they have their own ideas on New Moon casting, or should we say recasting. They also have a quiz where you can voice your opinion on their recasting choices. This guy is so funny.

Twilight Books
Just a reminder the Twilight Collector's Edition is on sale now. Buy if for yourself and save it for Christmas. Also, the Twilight Saga: the official guide is not going to be out until September 30, 2009. This is 9 months later than originally planned. Boy am I depressed.
Twilighters Anonymous has a pretty funny Top Ten List (think Letterman) about why you should see the Twilight movie again.
New Moon Update
MTV did an interview about New Moon with Catherine Hardwicke. Many questions will be answered and some are left out, but a great read if you have the time. For those of you pressed for time, here are a few highlights from the interview.
-They hope to have the movie out in late 2009 early 2010
-The first rough draft of New Moon has been completed
-There will be more of Edward than you think
Hot Topic has gone crazy with Twilight items. They have added men's hoodies, gift cards, purses and much more. Go and check it out. Might make shopping for Christmas just a little easier.New Moon Update
Twilight DVD
This information is coming from the Twilight Lexicon Blog, so nothing official, but these gals know their stuff. I will keep you posted when the release date actually comes out.
Also, for those of you who are dying to have the DVD, this is just in from Naomi who stumbled on Twilight info at her local video store.
I was at my local mall today, scouting out new Twilight merchandise, when I decided to check out FYE. I went straight to the posters that were displayed and there, taped to the display, was a sign that read "PREORDER TWILIGHT TODAY! COMING IN 2009." I literally ran up to the counter and asked the lady to fill me in. She told me that I could pre-order it by putting $5 down on the dvd, and when it came in, they’d call. I asked when it was coming in and she replied around Valentine’s Day (February 14th). Also (and I don’t know if this is just at my local FYE or at others too), the woman told me that she was having a contest to win a special Twilight prize. To win, all you have to do is pre-order the DVD. Oh, and they have 2 different versions of the DVD coming out: a regular (estimated at $19.99) and a special edition (estimated at $22.99).

Site of the month
After much thought I have decided to make Twilightmoms.com the site of the month for December. Let me explain why I was not a fan for awhile.
Back in May, Channy and I were sitting out for The Host book signing. We had spent a cold night out in front of Borders to get the tickets and were now sitting in the baking sun waiting in line for the event. Well a couple of "girls" thought they would butt in line and lied about it. I was having none of that and went to told the ladies they had to move. Needless to say security was called and the "girls" had to move back in line.
How does this tie in with Twilight Mom's, well, these "girls" claimed to be Twilight moms. Looking back I don't think they were, but I didn't know. The real Twilight Mom's are wonderful helpful people.
I felt I needed to give Twilight Mom's the site of the month because they did such a wonderful job on the Twilight Premiere. I know how much work it was for the party we had, I can only imagine what time and effort was put forth for theirs. Congrats to Twilight Mom's.

Twilight Party and Movie
After months of anticipation, we were finally rewarded. We have been to one of the funniest parties ever and we saw Twilight.
The day could not come fast enough. I didn't sleep well the night prior, I am sure it was because of all the excitement about the movie and the Twilight Party Channy and I were throwing. I would dare say, yesterday was better than Christmas. The party we threw was great! I don't think it could of gone any better. I believe we had about 50 people total. The decorations, food and games came together wonderfully.
Thank you again to all those who did attend. I know many traveled from out of state to come. I hope we didn't let you down. Channy and I enjoyed putting this together and having others share our love of the books. We missed those who were not able to make it, but don't worry, we have three others party's we are planning on hosting.
The movie was wonderful. I like it a lot. The did follow the book well. They even used a lot of the same lines from the book for the movie. In addition to the romance, there were several funny parts. I was entertained the entire two hours.
I googled "Twilight reviews" and over 1300 articles came up. These reviews range from 5 star to 2.5 (this was by the Salt Lake Tribe, guy hasn't even read the books.) My review has nothing but praise. Of course there were a few things I would of like to see, but then I have read the book 6 times. I do not think this movie is a waste of your $8.00.
I plan on seeing it again tonight! Let's hope Twilight makes more than Bond does. I would hate for Channy to lose a bet.
Check back later this weekend to see the total sales for Twilight's opening weekend and pictures from the party.

Twilight vs. James Bond Quantum of Solace (Opening Weekend)
My cousin Channy has told her brother Kevin, that Twilight will beat the opening numbers for the new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. Here is what I know of so far.
Bond
Number of theatres showing film opening weekend - 5,900
Opening weekend gross - $70.4 million dollars
Percentage of ticket purchased in advance - 44%
Midnight Showings - Couldn't find info, but I am sure it wasn't 500.
Cost to make film - $200 million
Twilight
Number of theatres showing film opening weekend - 5,500
Opening weekend gross - ????
SOLD OUT Midnight Showings - 500 theatres
Percentage of ticket purchased in advance - 51%
Cost to make film - $37 million
So what needs to happen to make it so Twilight does do better than Bond? ALL the theaters need to sell out! Having 400 less theatres will hurt us, but I am going twice, maybe three times. If you are passionate about this, help us out and go as many times as you can! :)

My husband had read ALL 4 books!! Way to go Stu!
Movie Update - FOR NEW MOON and ECLIPSE
REELZCHANNEL had the opportunity to spend an entire day with the cast of Twilight. Here is some of the information they were able to get:
Stewart and Twilight Vamps All Signed for Three Movies
ReelzChannel was the envy of young girls across the nation this weekend spending an entire Saturday with the cast of Twilight.
Summit Entertainment, which made Twilight, is thrilled with the early hype around the November 21st release, but they are being cautious not to count their chickens before they hatch. Most industry insiders already consider an adaptation of the second book, New Moon, a foregone conclusion, but thus far Summit has only admitted to preproduction (insert scream here) work on the script.
During the course of the marathon junket, we had the chance to confirm that each and every character from the book series is signed on to three Twilight movies.
What about Breaking Dawn? Since the book wasn’t out when the contracts were drawn up, it was not part of the deal. Translation? If this series gets all the way to part four, Summit is either recasting or Stewart, Pattinson, Lautner, and crew can look forward to a nice fat raise.
Twilight DVD
Director Catherine Hardwicke says there are 12 deleted scenes on the TWILIGHT DVD! Check out her interview. Can you believe it, they are already working on the DVD. 12 deleted scenes? That is like 30 more minutes of the movie!
Bella's Lullaby - Edward Style
You may or may not have known, but Bella's lullaby was originally done by Edward, but was cut at the last minute. My friend Lisa found Edward's version on You Tube. Check it out!
It makes me wish I never stopped playing the piano, but don't tell my mom that.
Magazine Update
Entertainment Weekly will be having three Twilight covers hitting newsstands this weekend. Click here to see Rob Pattinson's solo cover and read the article.
Film Fantasy’s Twilight issue will be hitting newsstands, bookstores and department stores like Wal-Mart beginning on Monday November 10th. The issue – a 100 page special — features interviews with Stephenie Meyer, Catherine Hardwicke, Melissa Rosenberg, Robert Pattinson and a number of different actors from the film. Plus there’s a profile of Kristen Stewart, a who’s who guide to Twilight, a behind the scenes photo-filled look at the film through the eyes of one its extras, a guide to vampire romance (looking at everything from Twilight to True Blood, Buffy/Angel, Moonlight and Dark Shadows), interviews with several Young Adult vampire authors and much more.
Stephenie Meyer Interview - MUST READ!!
There is a wonderful interview on EW.com with Stephenie. She talks about many different things. If you have a moment, I would read it.
VOTE 2008 Results

Set your TIVO’s, DVR’s or even tune in live to Ellen on November 21st when Robert Pattinson will be on. Let's hope he gets more than the 3 1/2 minutes Stephenie got.

Edward vs. Jacob - 2008
Novel Novice is wrapping up their voter awareness project.
Election Day is here!
Once again, we here at Novel Novice Twilight would like to ask the rest of the Twilight community to remind registered U.S. voters to cast their ballots by tomorrow in the U.S. Nat’l election.
As a Twilight site focused on education, we’ve compiled information about the U.S. electoral system and the major candidates in the race for president, which can be found here: http://twilightnovelnovice.com/2008/11/03/election-day-news/
To continue our educational look at elections – and to have a bit of fun with elections – we are also running our Team Edward vs. Team Jacob political campaign.
Launched earlier this year, the campaign has been a way for Team Edward and Team Jacob fans to show their pride and support their “candidate” in words, artwork and video. Now the time has come to decide.
Who will you choose – Team Edward or Team Jacob?
Starting tomorrow, the polls will be open for Twilighters to cast their vote for either Team Edward or Team Jacob. The voting will be open through Friday. All the details (including mock political ads created by the NNT staff!) can be found here: http://twilightnovelnovice.com/contests-projects/novelnoviceprojects/team-edward-v-team-jacob/

Movie News
Information from Summit Films regarding the status of fan involvement during the premiere. According to Summit the premiere will take place at the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theater on November 17th. It’s standard to do a premiere a few days ahead of the nationwide release.
Fans are welcomed to come out and see the stars by standing in roped off areas. We specifically asked Summit "Is there any restriction security wise on who can be outside the theater. In other words would the average fan have the opportunity to stand behind a rope line and see the stars arrive?" and we were told "There are no restrictions regarding being present for arrivals at the premiere."We also asked if the average fan would have any opportunity to actually get inside the premiere, and they are getting back to us on that. However they did share a bunch of new info seen below.
We’re excited to announce the launch date for the new TWILIGHT trailer, set to debut online next Thursday, October 9. It can also be seen in theaters attached to select films (at the discretion of the exhibitor).
We wanted you, the devoted Twilight fans, to be the first to hear and share this exclusive news!
A few details about the launch that you should know:
~We want to give fans an opportunity to see the trailer first before anyone online via the Twilight widget, available at the official site - http://www.twilightthemovie.com/
~Following a television debut, the trailer will be available exclusively via the widget at 8:00 PM PST for one hour before going wide in HD on MySpace
~A countdown clock will be added to the widget shortly, timed to the trailer debut online at 8:00 PM PST

Twilight Parties....yes plural
Just in case you were not aware or may have forgotten, Channy and I are planning one heck of a Twilight party for THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20TH @ 7:30 PM. This party is for those who do not want to wait until Friday night to see the show or cannot get tickets. We are planning on having the party from about 7:30 - 10:00 pm. Following the party those who would like to can join us for the midnight showing. Now, if you have tickets for the Friday night show, you are still able to come to this party/movie too. We want it to be a lot of fun, so we have planned games, food and prizes, not to mention all the Twilight conversation anyone can handle.
I am aware this is over two months away, but wanted everyone to keep the night open. We have already been working hard and would love it if we have at least 35 people join us for the fun.
There will be more information about OUR party, so stay tuned.
There are still tickets for the Friday, night show. It is for the 2nd show which will show 90 mins after the first show. No other information has been released. For up to date information, please check out their website. http://twilightutevents.blogspot.com/
