Breaking Dawn News
Earlier today a video hit the web from the premiere passing on a rumor that Breaking Dawn is not only confirmed to be coming to the big screen, but that it will also be two films (check out the video here). Is this information true? According to Summit Entertainment, no information regarding a Breaking Dawn film has been confirmed. Read their official statement below:

Summit Entertainment looks forward to bringing "Breaking Dawn" to the big screen but at this point any additional information is premature.

New Moon DVD Details
In a new interview with New Moon director Chris Weitz, he gives MTV a breakdown of everything we can expect on the film’s DVD. Among those are a commentary with him, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, as well as some deleted features, and even more!

Movie Trailers - Movies Blog
“There will be a commentary track,” Weitz revealed, saying that he’ll soon head into the recording booth with his three big stars, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. “It’ll just be us riffing off each other in our intimate way,” he grinned. “We kind of like each other, so that should be fun.”

In addition, fans can look forward to picking up a copy of “Twilight in Forks,” the independently made documentary that teased fans with brief glimpses of its exploration into the real-life town that inspired Stephenie Meyer, only to be snatched up by Summit in September. An insider told MTV recently that the film will not be re-edited but will hit DVD alongside “New Moon” with all-new packaging and artwork.

Judging by the insatiable appetite of Twilighters, they’ll be filling DVD stores in the first quarter of 2010, eager to glimpse the deleted scenes Weitz plans to unveil for the first time.

“There will be probably about 20 minutes of deleted material,” he explained, promising some meaty footage. “It really is good stuff and a bonus for the fans.”

Among this bonus footage could be several moments MTV knows was shot but did not make the final “New Moon” cut, including:

» A scene with Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria driving to Forks in a car, snacking on a dead human. It was one of the final moments the actress filmed as the nomadic vampire.

» A scene with the human characters eating Burger King.

» Another scene with the humans, this time with Justin Chon and Michael Welch expressing jealousy over Edward’s car.

» More scenes with the Volturi in Italy.

» An extended cut of the scene where Mike Newton quotes Shakespeare to Bella in the Forks High parking lot; in it, he does a Marlon Brando impersonation.

» Scenes alluding to the ongoing breakup between Newton and Anna Kendrick’s Jessica.

“When I made the film, I wanted it to arrive at a certain kind of flow and cadence,” Weitz said of why he had to leave so many scenes on the cutting-room floor but hopes to restore many for the DVD. “[They would have affected] how the movie worked, and they didn’t completely fit. But there’ll be some groovy stuff in [the DVD].”

New Moon Shines at box office - More like kicks butt!
Biting off the third best weekend opening of all time with $142.8 million from 4,024 theaters, Summit Entertainment's female-fueled "New Moon" explodes the myth that you need an all-audience film to do that level of biz, or that fanboys hold all the power.

At the international B.O., the vampire romancer bowed to $118.1 million from 6,681 prints in 26 territories for a sparkling worldwide opening total of $258.8 million.

"New Moon" -- grossing nearly double "Twilight's" $69.6 million debut a year ago -- began breaking records not long after it unspooled at 12:01 a.m. Friday, securing itself a spot in the pantheon of hit franchise pics and marking a huge victory for Summit.

Sequel grossed $26.3 million in midnight runs, besting record-holder "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" ($22.2 million).

Full Friday number clocked in at $72.7 million -- including midnight grosses -- the best opening day in history and beating the $67.2 million earned by "Dark Knight" on its first Friday.

Heading into the weekend, rival studios believed "New Moon" would have trouble going north of $110 million, since it is driven by only two out of four quadrants of the moviegoing audience: Females under 25, and those over. Even Summit execs might have agreed.

But the ferocious appetite for the franchise among girls and younger women proved those predictions wrong. Of the females turning out, a full 50% were under 21.

"This blew away a lot of preconceived notions about who you should play to, and how you get to a certain group," Summit prexy of distribution Richie Fay said.

Despite Friday's huge numbers, "New Moon" declined only about 41% on Saturday, the same drop "Twilight" had seen. That indicates that the fanbase has grown, since "New Moon" did so much more for the weekend.

For years, studios have relied on fanboy-driven films or families for big opening grosses. Thanks to long lives, female properties can ultimately see big grosses; they just haven't opened so big.

"Twilight" cumed $192.8 million domestically and $192.2 million at the foreign B.O. for a worldwide total of $385 million. All eyes will be on "New Moon" to see by how much it might eclipse that total.

For the last year, Summit has carried out a well-orchestrated marketing campaign for the sequel, directed by Chris Weitz and returning Kristen Stewart and teen heartthrobs Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in the lead roles.

Sales of Stephenie Meyers' four-book "Twilight" series also have continued to climb. Two years ago, 1 million copies had sold worldwide. Today, that figure stands at 85 million.

As in the U.S., "New Moon" is shining overseas, outgunning or matching franchises "Harry Potter" and "The Lord of the Rings." It scored the top opening of all time in Australia ($13.3 million), New Zealand ($2.6 million) and the Philippines ($2.1 million). "New Moon" generated enormous business in Europe, led by the U.K. ($18.7 million), France ($17 million), Spain ($13.7 million) and Italy ($13 million). It also generated plenty of interest in Latin America. Summit owns worldwide rights to the film, but it is being released via local distribs overseas.

Summit releases the next title in the franchise, "Eclipse," on June 30, 2010. Just as "New Moon" worked with femme fans, so did "Blind Side." Film received an A+ from CinemaScore.

Warners prexy of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said that 75% of the audience was over age 25, meaning it got older women not so distracted by "New Moon."

Twilight Saga: New Moon breaks Box Office Records
As I told you before, New Moon sales for the midnight showing alone were $26.7 million dollars. The sales for the first full day including midnight sales was $72.7 million dollars. In case you were wondering, Twilight only brought in $35 million the first day it was open.

New Moon broke the record for highest midnight sales which was previously owned by Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It made $22.2 Million dollars on it's midnight release.

The second record New Moon broke was sales for a single-day opening. New Moon pulled in an astounding $72.7 million on Friday alone. The old record set by "The Dark Knight" was for $67.2 million.

Word on the street is an official release on the filming of Breaking Dawn should be coming on the 23rd.

I have seen New Moon!!! My cousin Channy and I held a party for about 140 ladies prior to the movie, more info to come on this. Part of the party included a ticket to the midnight showing of New Moon. We rented a theatre so we didn't have to worry about getting tickets like we did last year. Rented theatres are the only way to go.

When I first saw Twilight I wanted to like it so bad, but it left me lacking. In what I do not know, but I just didn't love it. Once I saw Twilight a second time, I loved it. That was not the case with New Moon. I loved this show. It was great. I feel it followed the book closer than Twilight and I think it was just better all around. Now it could be that Jacob and Edward were both without shirts part of the show. It could have been my seat was smack dab in the middle of the theatre and I was able to watch it with Channy on my right and my hubby to my left. Whatever the reason, I loved it. I am actually going to see the show again in 40 mins.

I would highly recommend spending the money (more than once) to see it.

New Moon Midnight release sales
CNN - The second installment in the "Twilight Saga", starring Robert Pattinson as vampire Edward Cullen, Kristen Stewart as his star-crossed love and Taylor Lautner as the wolf boy who loves her, has already ripped through a box office record.

According to Hollywood trade magazine Variety, "New Moon" is the biggest midnight showing in history, grossing $26.3 million when it opened in 3,514 theatres at 12:01 am on Friday.

The film even surpassed the supernatural cinema force that is "Harry Potter," collecting more than $22.2 million that "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" earned during its midnight showing this summer.

"New Moon" has also easily beaten its own predecessor, "Twilight", which earned $36 million on opening day last year. And while "Twilight" opening weekend was $69.7 million, early reports are that "New Moon" will do even better.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA - NEW MOON Sells the Most Advance Tickets in Fandango’s History

Sorry, Star Wars: Episode III, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Dark Knight, and Twilight. With five days remaining until it opens in over 4,000 theaters nationwide, The Twilight Saga: New Moon has become the biggest advance-seller in history for the online movie ticket seller, Fandango.com. The tickets went on sale starting on August 31st and while midnight showings across the country are sold out, theaters are continually adding new screens for the film which means new tickets are becoming available.

This is interesting as far as the box office is concerned because there’s the possibility it could determine whether or not Summit, the studio behind The Twlight Saga, will go ahead with Breaking Dawn, the final book in the series and the one with the most mixed reception among fans. With a strong enough weekend opening, we may be hearing on November 23rd that Breaking Dawn is a go. However, with such massive advance sales, I’m curious to how much New Moon could rake in. Openly almost a year to the day of Twlight, it should beat the first film’s opening take of $69 million but by how much? I’m horrible at predicting box office but I think it will gross overtake Half-Blood Prince’s take of $77 million but not break the $100 million mark. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has the year’s highest opening weekend with $108 million.
