Eclipse News
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, directed by David Slade, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, and adapted by Melissa Rosenberg from Stephenie Meyer’s novel has officially ended its run after 114 days, as per Box Office Mojo. Eclipse took in $300,531,751 (43.5%) at US/Canada theaters, in addition to $389,599,756 (56.5%) for a worldwide total of $690,131,507. It’s the fourth biggest domestic box-office hit of the year, after Toy Story 3, Alice in Wonderland, and Iron Man 2.

Domestically, Eclipse made more money than either Twilight and New Moon. But considering 2010’s higher ticket prices and the fact that Eclipse was screened at nearly 200 IMAX theaters (which charge more than regular theaters), in all likelihood New Moon remains the Twilight movie that sold the most tickets. (Eclipse would have needed another $1.5-2.5m to surpass its predecessor.)

Just a reminder the Eclipse DVD will come out December, 4th.

Summit Entertainment announced today the following have been cast in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN for roles in The American Coven, The Amazon Coven, The Egyptian Coven, The Irish Coven and The Romanian Coven as well as the European Nomads as outlined below.

THE AMERICAN NOMADS

■Garrett - Lee Pace

Turned during the Revolutionary War, Garrett has chosen to live a nomadic existence, wandering the world on his own. Garrett has never lost the rebellious spirit of his human life, and loves a good fight, always rooting for the underdog. Though not a vegetarian, Garrett is among Carlisle's closest and oldest friends.

Mary and Randall are American nomadic vampires.

Peter and Charlotte are nomadic vampires and mates. They were created during the aftermath of the Southern Vampire Wars, in which Jasper was a key player. They have remained friends with Jasper ever since.

THE AMAZON COVEN

■Senna - Tracey Heggins










■Zafrina - Judi Shekoni


Among the oldest vampires in the world, Senna and Zafrina are descendants of an ancient Amazonian tribe. They have lived outside of civilization for centuries and therefore make no attempt to keep up a human facade. Though they drink human blood, the Amazons have long been allies of Carlisle.

The Irish Coven, a relatively young group, was founded by Siobhan and Liam, but Maggie's talent made her an important element of it. They are not vegetarian but they are civilized.

THE ROMANIAN COVEN

The Romanian Coven is one of the oldest covens in the world and they were the ruling vampire family until they were unseated by the Volturi. For that reason they harbor a centuries old resentment of the Italian coven.

THE EUROPEAN NOMADS

■Alistair - Joe Anderson


A nomadic vampire from England, Alistair has a misanthropic, brooding personality and a deep mistrust of all authority. Although he counts Carlisle as his closest acquaintance, he doesn’t visit more than once a century.

■The next chapter of THE TWILIGHT SAGA will be released as two separate films with the first of the two slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011 and the second coming to theatres on November 16, 2012.

Filming begins in under 2 weeks....
Hollywood Life got the chance to catch up with Twilight Saga star Nikki Reed at the launch of the Swatch new gents collection at the Gansevoort Park Avenue last night in New York, and she had a bit to say about Breaking Dawn! She revealed some details about filming, which you can read below:

“I’m headed out there [to New Orleans] in just over a week,” she said.

While on location, the star will also be taking on another role — as a student! “I’ve signed up for five courses, but two were unavailable,” she said, saying that she plans to take language, English, and psychology classes in her free time.

So, what can we expect from Rosalie? Nikki said she wants fans to see the sympathetic side of her vampire character and hopes to humanize her. “I cross my fingers I can do it accurately.” In order to get back in to character, she said she re-read the book, Breaking Dawn and she has acting classes scheduled for next week and plans to prep up until she goes off to New Orleans! “I went through it last month once I got the scripts just to make sure nothing was missing.”

The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
Yes! You’re reading that headline correctly. The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide finally has a real release date. The long-awaited guide will be available to buy on April 12th next year according to an exclusive from EW.com’s Shelf Life. Check it all out below:

The bad news: It’s not another sequel. The good news: There will be plenty of brand-new details in The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, a reference book Stephenie Meyer created to accompany her best-selling novels. According to a press release from Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, the $24.99 encyclopedia, which will go on sale April 12, 2011, includes “character profiles, outtakes, a conversation with Meyer, genealogical charts, maps, extensive cross-references, and much more,” including art by by Young Kim, who illustrated Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 1.

Black Island Farms is back once again this year with their famous Twilight corn maze, only this time it has more of an Eclipse theme. This year’s maze features the likenesses of Bella, Edward and Jacob from Eclipse. Check out more below: Black Island Farms is again inviting people this fall to harvest memories, from the hayrides, slides built from giant hay stacks and freshly picked bounty at the farmers market available during the Harvest Festival. People can also brave a cornfield maze.

Those attempting to find the one exit from the more than five miles of twists, turns and dead ends likely will spend more than an hour to make their way out. The University of California at San Marcos is offering a Women’s Studies Class that really dives in and looks at all aspects of the books and movies. Eclipse gets a PG-13 rating
According to Box Office Mojo, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has gotten an official MPAA rating! Much like its predecessors, Eclipse follows suit with a rating of PG-13. Read below for more details on why it was given this rating:

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse received a PG-13 rating for “intense sequences of action and violence, and some sensuality.” Both Twilight and New Moon were PG-13 as well, but for slightly different, and somewhat telling, reasons: Twilight garnered its rating due to “some violence and a scene of sensuality,” while New Moon earned it for “some violence and action.”

According to Summit, you can pick up your tickets to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (which hits theaters on June 30th) this Friday, May 14 Fandango and MovieTickets.com! The official run time of the film has also just been released at 2 hours and 4 minutes.

News directly from Stephenie Meyer! On Stephenie’s website we have confirmation that not only is Muse on the Eclipse soundtrack, but they are the first single to be released. The song will be called Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)! Read more below:

The first single on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” has just been confirmed and I get to bring you the exclusive details. Stephenie’s very favorite band, Muse, has contributed a song called “Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)” and it’s the first single from the project. It will be out on May 17th. I haven’t heard it yet, but I am very excited. The official soundtrack will also be available on June 8th. You can pre-order the Eclipse soundtrack here.

Eclipse Soundtrack release date
Attention “Twilight” lovers: If you’ve memorized every note of the “New Moon” soundtrack, you’re in luck: On June 8, you’ll be able to get your hands on the next soundtrack in the series, “Eclipse.”

The release date was first posted Monday (April 19) morning on Amazon.com, and subsequently confirmed to MTV News by a spokesperson for Atlantic Records, which will be releasing the soundtrack in conjunction with music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas’ Chop Shop Records.

No official announcement has been made about just who will be appearing on the soundtrack to “Eclipse” (the film itself hits theaters on June 30), but some reports on “Twilight” fansites have already penciled author Stephenie Meyer-faves Muse onto the album, which makes sense because they’ve already appeared on the first two editions of the “Twlight” soundtracks.

The spokesperson for Atlantic would not confirm any of the artists scheduled to appear, but said a press release on the soundtrack is forthcoming.

Nordstrom will be getting ready for Eclipse soon with a whole new line of merchandise and even more from Twilight Beauty. Check out more below:

With “Eclipse” only two months away, Nordstrom’s getting ready to release their second “Twilight”-themed clothing line. You’ll remember that they first collaborated with Summit Entertainment when “New Moon” came out, and we exclusively posted “Twilight Fashion Week” coverage. The new “Eclipse” line will be available for preorder beginning May 15 , and in store and online purchasing will start June 5.

Unlike last year’s line, which took advantage of the “Team Edward”/”Team Jacob” rivalry, this year Nordstrom is all about churning out a “head-to-toe” recreation of the outfits worn by Bella and Alice. This will include “fashion tops with lace trim, mini skirts, striped and floral dresses, skinny jeans, cardigans, and plaid jackets,” with what we consider to be reasonable prices ranging from $30 to $58.

Nordstrom will also be selling exclusive cardboard cutouts of Edward, Bella, Jacob and Alice for $33, though we’re sure you’ll be seeing plenty of other versions available at places like Hot Topic and FYE. Another renewed partnership from last year is with Twilight Beauty, as Nordstrom will again be selling their “Twilight”-themed project.

And, again like last year, Nordstrom is planning to take part of special “Eclipse” events like giving away advance screenings to the films, having cast members visit their stores, and planning “Twilight” Takeover parties.

New Book From Stephenie Meyer
Huge, exciting news from Stephenie Meyer! She has written a new novella that takes place during Eclipse, all about Bree. The novella is called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner and will be available to read June 5th. Check out the story from Stephenie below:
Surprise!

I have a new book coming out. It’s called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Well, it’s more of a novella than an actual book—my version of a short story.

Actually, this has been a surprise to me, too. The reason why it’s a surprise was that I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago—before Twilight was even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree’s perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn.

This story was something that I worked on off and on for a while, just for fun, in between the times I was writing or editing other Twilight novels. Later, when the concept for The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide came up, I thought that might be a good place for Bree. Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

At the same time, it came in handy for the Eclipse film. Melissa (Rosenberg, the screenwriter) had a ton of questions about what exactly was going on in Seattle, how Victoria managed things, what Riley was like, etc. I let her read what I had then, and later gave the whole thing to the director, David Slade. David asked if Xavier, Bryce, and Jodelle (Riley, Victoria, and Bree) could read it as well, so all the parties involved would end up having a really strong foundation for their characters before the cameras started rolling. I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.

Then I got the news: my “short story” was nearly 200 pages long when typeset. It was too long to fit into the Guide—without ending up with a tome as heavy as the Oxford English Dictionary. My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.

There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com.

One other aspect of this release is the plan to give a more important gift to people who really need it. One dollar of each book purchased in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti and Chile and other parts of the world where people are in great need. We’re going to have an option online as well, so you can choose to make a donation if you want when you read the story online. I hope you will. I think that we can really help a lot of people with this.

I really hope you all enjoy this story. I had a blast writing it. I’m glad that after all this time cooling her heels in my files, Bree finally gets her chance to shine.

New Moon DVD News
Summit Entertainment announced today that the home entertainment release of the studio’s action-packed, modern day vampire love story THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON sold just over 4 million DVD units in its first weekend of release. The tally surpasses the first weekend sales of TWILIGHT in 2009 which sold 3.8 million DVD units, and went on to be the top selling DVD title of the year with 9.2 million units sold. The DVD launch of NEW MOON commenced this past Saturday morning with 7,000 retail locations nationwide taking part in events at midnight giving fans their first chance to obtain a DVD of the film.

Thousands of TWILIGHT fans across the nation participated in the “NEW MOON at Midnight” event and some were treated to surprise appearances by members of the cast as well as the film’s director. Fans saw actors Justin Chon who plays Eric, Christian Serratos who plays Angela, and Michael Welch who plays Mike in Salt Lake City; director Chris Weitz and Nikki Reed who plays Rosalie Hale in Los Angeles; Peter Facinelli who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in New York; Edi Gathegi who plays Laurent in Pittsburgh; and Liz Reaser who plays Esme Cullen in Phoenix. Other cast members of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON made appearances nationwide including Kiowa Gordon and Tinsel Korey in Cincinnati; Charlie Bewley in Denver; Chaske Spencer and Tyson Houseman in Atlanta; Daniel Cudmore in Houston; and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg in Seattle.

Summit Entertainment’s Co-Chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger stated, “Once again the incredibly dedicated fans of the TWILIGHT SAGA came out in massive numbers this weekend for the opportunity to be one of the first take home the second movie in the series. As we have said all along, the fans are what make this franchise and we once again thank them for their support.”

“The support that we have received from our retail partners in accommodating the incredible demand for the title has been nothing short of amazing,” said Steve Nickerson, Summit’s President of Home Entertainment. “The ground we have broken with in-store partnerships and the availability of this title has been a positive influence on the retail DVD business.”

Breaking Dawn News
Some new news on the Breaking Dawn front today. Although we still have yet to hear official confirmation on Breaking Dawn; according to EW.com’s Hollywood Insider, Summit is looking at some pretty big names to direct Breaking Dawn.

Sources tell EW that the studio has reached out to at least three top-notch directors, including Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk), and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) to gauge their interest in what is likely to be two movies. (Van Sant’s reps confirmed that he’s been approached, but Coppola and Condon’s people didn’t return phone calls by press time. Summit declined to comment.)

No decisions are likely to be made until the studio delivers screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg’s detailed outline to the directors. That should happen sometime next week. Until then we can just wonder how these three very diverse directors will approach Bella’s controversial birthing scene.

EW’s Hollywood Insider has breaking news regarding Eclipse this afternoon. Summit Entertainment has replaced the editor on Eclipse and replaced him with the editor who previously worked on Twilight. Read more below:

Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the uber-successful Twilight series, confirmed this morning that it has replaced Eclipse editor Art Jones with Nancy Richardson, the editor of Catherine Hardwicke’s original Twilight film. The studio is not placing blame on Jones, who previously worked with Eclipse director David Slade on his horror film 30 Days of Night as well as Slade’s Ellen Page-starrer Hard Candy. They do believe, however, that Slade’s material – which they call “very good” – needed a stronger edit. The studio has more confidence in Richardson, who they say understands the emotion of the characters and is an ace at balancing action with the other elements of the film.

Madame Tussauds has some fun news for us today! They have now confirmed that the newest actor admitted to their attraction is none other than Robert Pattinson. Rob’s wax figure is set to debut this March. Read more below:
We expect to spark fan frenzy today as we’ve just confirmed the next actor to be admitted into our attraction is the hottest celebrity of the moment, Brit born A-lister and star of the phenomenally successful Twilight saga, Robert Pattinson. The wax figure of the British heartthrob will be revealed in March, ahead of the release of his latest film, Remember Me, in early April.

The studios team are busy recreating R-Pattz’s trademark sultry expression and messy hair, whilst the figure’s outfit will reflect his rugged style with an open collared shirt and skinny trousers. The figure making process takes four months of intense work to complete at a cost of £150,000.

“Robert Pattinson is one of the hottest celebrities in the world and we have been inundated by requests to make him at Madame Tussauds London,” commented Liz Edwards, our PR Manager. “We are delighted that we’ll be able to give fans the chance to to meet their idol and pose for pictures with him. Due to the huge success of the Stephenie Meyer comic book biography, Bluewater Productions has announced that they will be making a new, hardcover edition of “Twilight Unbound: The Stephenie Meyer Story”. The new hardcover edition will feature a new cover image, updated content and will hit shelves in May. Read more below: This new version will include updates on the success of New Moon, the most recent Twilight film, and a look at Meyer’s future plans for Edward and Bella, the romantic leads of her vampire books. The book will also be stuffed with extras, making it a must-buy for Twilight fans.

The collectible version with new features will be the first hard cover for Bluewater retail for $12.99. Written by Ryan Burton with art by David McNeil, the comic is just the latest in Bluewater’s popular biography line. This series of biography comics has already highlighted such influential women as Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling, Sarah Palin, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton. The series’ goal is to examine the lives of these important figures in an objective and balanced manner without resorting to sensationalism.

“The fan reaction to our original release of Female Force: Stephenie Meyer was amazing,” said Darren G. Davis, president of Bluewater Productions. “The positive response took even me by surprise. Breaking Dawn News
We have breaking news from Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood! Nikki is reporting that Breaking Dawn will be made, and not only that, but it will be made into two movies which will be filmed back-to-back. I have this from several sources, and it’s definitive. Filming on the back-to-back movies would begin in mid-October, and Summit Entertainment is looking at “high-end” directors. Breaking Dawn is the longest in Stephenie Meyer’s 4-book series lengthwise and it’s the most graphic — presenting birth, attempted murder, death, and of course vampire bites. Published on August 2, 2008, it has a happy ending for most of the characters. Divided into 3 parts, the 1st and 3rd sections are told from the point of view of Bella (Kristen Stewart), and the second section from the perspective of Jacob (Taylor Lautner). It prominently features all 3 favorite characters including Edward (Robert Pattinson). Summit Entertainment no doubt will save money by making these Twilight Saga movies #4 and #5 back to back. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (who’s written all the Twilight Saga films) is currently adapting Breaking Dawn.

MTV has brand new news for us from Tonner. Now that we’ve seen Jacob in all his buff glory on the big screen in New Moon, Tonner has come out with a brand new Jacob doll. The last released Tonner dolls were the bad vamps from Twilight which were unveiled at Comic Con last summer. Note that this Jacob even sports the famous wolf pack tattoo! Check out more below:
The limited edition Jacob action figure, which comes a few (long-awaited!) months after Tonner debuted its Laurent, Victoria, James and “Hungry Edward” dolls during last July’s Comic-Con, will be shapeshifting released this summer.
