Eclipse News
The 25-year-old Adelaide-born and Sydney-based actor’s career has so far focused on small and independent Australian films.
The vampire movies have already made hot properties of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the latter now comes with his own travelling pack of obsessive teen fans.
“I’m in a bit of a daze but it’s a wonderful bit of news,” Samuel exclusively told Confidential from Los Angeles last night.
Samuel has only recently hit Tinseltown after appearing in five small Australian films including Newcastle, where he played a Goth teenager among a group of surfers, September and the upcoming Road Train, where he stars as one of a group of teens terrorised by an out-of-control truck.
In Eclipse he takes on the role of a newborn vampire named Riley, a good-looking university student involved in a plot to kill Stewart’s character Bella.
Samuel is still getting his head around the Twilight phenomenon.
“I managed to catch the film on the way over on the plane,” he said. He admitted he’s not read any of the best-selling books of the series - yet.

Twilight scene it?
How freaking cool is this? The game does not come out until October, but you can pre-order it now at Amazon. The game will cost $29.99.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON - The highly anticipated sequel to last year’s box-office smash TWILIGHT is the subject of a question-and-answer session featuring surprise members of the cast. In anticipation of being one of the convention’s most talked-about events, the panel will also thrill the crowd with a first look at never-before-seen footage from the film. With THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) and Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) return in a captivating new chapter of the action epic that has enthralled audiences around the world.
For those of you who can’t get enough Edward and Bella, EW can announce — exclusively — that Yen Press will be publishing Twilight in graphic-novel form. Though Korean artist Young Kim is creating the art, Meyer herself is deeply immersed in the project, reviewing every panel.
Take a close look at the biology-class sketch we’ve obtained (that’s an empty dialogue bubble between their heads, if you’re wondering). What’s interesting to me is that it doesn’t look simply like an artist’s rendering of Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson. In fact, the characters seem to be an amalgam of Meyer’s literary imagination and the actors’ actual looks. The description of Edward from biology class: “His dazzling face was friendly; open, a slight smile on his flawless lips. But his eyes were cautious.” And Bella: “I was ivory-skinned …. I had always been slender, but soft somehow, obviously not an athlete…” To me, this graphic-novel Bella seems much closer to me to Meyer’s book than to Stewart’s sultry portrayal. The Edward shown is closer to Pattinson, but not a real duplicate; there’s something very winning in the sketch that I don’t see in Pattinson’s all-too-perfect tousled bronze locks and piercing eyes.
Exciting news:Click here to read about a very cool new project that Yen Press is working on: Twilight: The Graphic Novel. The newest issue of Entertainment Weekly (hitting newsstands on Friday) will feature three exclusive illustrations from the book. More information about the book, including the publication date, will be coming. This is the first announcement of the book, so it is still not available for pre-order, but I will post a link as soon as it goes on sale.

Harry Potter vs. Twilight
As a new “Harry Potter” movie opens next week, the bespectacled wizard faces a new challenge: how to compete for the attention of a young audience that has been growing up—and is starting to prefer the angsty teen romances and cooler, edgier characters of the “Twilight” books and movies.
The film moves directly into the territory where “Twilight” now rules. The sixth “Potter” movie, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” has a distinctly more grown-up tone than its predecessors and features a strong romantic plotline.
The movie’s timing may have helped its vampire rival. Last year Warner Bros. delayed the release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” to fill a hole in its summer-2009 schedule. Hollywood studio Summit Entertainment wasted no time pushing its teen vampire picture “Twilight” into the vacant November slot. The film, adapted from the best-selling book series about an epic love story between a vampire who looks 17 years old and a normal teenage girl, became an overnight success, grossing more than $382 million world-wide on a shoestring budget of $37 million.
Warner Bros. and the team behind “Potter” say they didn’t take the “Twilight” franchise into account when designing their marketing materials for “The Half-Blood Prince.” Instead, they crafted a campaign aimed to resonate with previous “Potter” films, the executives and filmmakers say, dismissing the notion that there is a rivalry between the franchises among fans.
For its part, Summit Entertainment, the studio behind “Twilight,” says it has been careful to steer clear of the commercial juggernaut that “Potter” has become, especially because its “Twilight” fan base overlaps with the “Potter” audience. The studio says that its strategy has been to avoid releasing any “Twilight” material too close to big release dates for “Harry Potter.”
“It’s the only franchise that we ever pay attention to,” says Rob Friedman, chief executive and co-chairman of Summit Entertainment. “We are very cognizant of where they are, and we’ve always been wary of being in too close proximity to ‘Harry Potter’ because we know our fans cross over so much, and we definitely don’t want to compete with ‘Harry’ for attention.”
Haami Nyangibo, a 13-year-old girl from London, says that after years of reading “Harry Potter” she has come to find the “Twilight” books “far more relatable. They just engage in a more realistic way. A lot of my friends have gone off ‘Harry Potter’ and are onto ‘Twilight,’ ” she says.

I do hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. It is my favorite holiday! Now back to the Twilight world...........
Rumor: Kristen Stewart Pregnant with Rob's Baby
The original source is an Australian gossip magazine whose headlines aside from the Kristen story were: Jen [Aniston] Tears Over Brad, Britney Spears Getting Married, and Michael Jackson’s Death, Was It Murder. So, you judge the credibility. The inside story goes on to state that Kristen sent a friend out for a pregnancy test because she was afraid to go to the drug store and be spotted getting one. The said friend then went and blabbed to someone who told the Australia-based magazine.
Now let’s think about this a second. Kristen has pretty much grown up in the business and realizes how rumors start, and knows that media eyes are on her. She’d risk sending “a friend” to get the test, especially one who can’t keep his/her mouth shut? Two words: mail order!
Now it gets better. We thought we had seen just about everything on this latest rumor and then it jumped the proverbial shark. Another gossip website states that Kristen responded to the rumor via her Twitter, yet they don’t cite what Twitter account that was, yet they quote it. Now putting aside the fact that Kristen doesn’t have a Twitter, let’s think about this. In a series of Tweets Kristen supposedly says that her publicist could have made up the rumor. In our opinion, when you have a career as big and hot right now as Kristen Stewart’s, no publicist (if they value their job and reputation) starts a pregnancy rumor. It’s not like Kristen isn’t getting a ton of PR via Runaways and New Moon. She would need a pregnancy rumor to attract additional attention because why exactly?
Next, Ted Casablanca, the one of the kings of Hollywood gossip is calling people out and saying BS. Now, when your rumor is at the point when a guy who makes his livelihood trading in rumor is pretty much going, “yeah right” instead of playing along (he also called BS on the “cab attacks Rob” and with logical back up)…you decide.
Thanks to Twilight Lexicon for this news. All I can say is let's hope it is not true.

Twilight Saga News
According to the Deadbolt, Showtime has gotten the rights to broadcast the Twilight Saga films. The report goes on to say that the deal will allow them the exclusive opportunity to air the films upon their release to cable TV. Read more below:
Amid the Twilight Saga craze, Showtime has landed the rights to broadcast the Twilight Saga, With all New Moon corners of the media market capitalizing on the popularity of the Twilight Saga, it was announced that Showtime has signed an exclusive Twilight deal with Summit Entertainment that gives Showtime the rights to air all Twilight films in the Stephenie Meyer based Twilight Saga upon the release of Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking dawn to cable television. With cable television curry enjoying a new moon in popularity and far from any twilight of what TV fans can expect, the release of critically acclaimed cable TV movies and series have overshadowed mainstream networks.
The new Twilight Saga - Showtime deal is a bold move for Showtime after executives chose to not continue relationships with Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM. Prior to the new Twilight deal, it appears the new moon direction of Showtime was made after excessive over broadcast fees by studios became too much. Showtime will now have access to 42 Summit Entertainment films, which include the four instalments of the Twilight Saga that star Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and supporting actors Peter Facinelli, Ashley Green, and Nikki Reed.
The Twilight Saga is a lucrative acquisition for Showtime given the popularity of the Stephenie Meter penned Twilight novels and the first two Twilight Saga films, Twilight and New Moon. Showtime has steadily become a popular cable network in the years prior to Twilight and New Moon, with such shows as Queer as Folk, Weeds, The L Word, and the new hit Nurse Jackie, which includes Twilight Saga cast member, Peter Facinelli.
